Port Charlotte, along Florida’s welcoming Gulf Coast, is about halfway between Sarasota and For Myers and is the heart of Charlotte County. Featuring more than 165 miles of waterways, providing access to Charlotte Harbor, the Gulf of Mexico, and miles of natural shoreline bordering Charlotte Harbor, plus the Peace and Myakka Rivers – it is perfectly positioned to offer every manner of water-borne activities. For some totally gorgeous views of the bay, Bayshore Live Oak Park is the place to be. Walking down the lovely coastline trails is easily one of the best things to do around sunset – stunning orange hues that are too beautiful to miss. Port Charlotte is also known for the number of parks it has to explore. Known for its unhurried, laid-back lifestyle and plenty of Old Florida charm, Port Charlotte has been recognized as a top place to retire in the U.S. Seven of the 21 golf courses located in Charlotte County are found in Port Charlotte. Port Charlotte is also home to the Charlotte Sports Park, the award-wining base of Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training, and to Bert’s Black Widow – the nation’s top Harley Davidson dealership. There are endless things to do near Port Charlotte, but it’s also a destination unto itself!
